Hi.......I'm Russell E. Bell Jr. a.k.a. Ruz2g. I became a c5 c6 incomplete quadriplegic in 1995 when I was 23 years old. My paralysis happened when I dove into Lake Michigan in Milwaukee Wisconsin I broke my neck shattering my 5th cervical causing a compression of the spine which made me paralyzed. Cervical reconstruction was done with bone from right hip and fused between the 5th & 6th cervical. I have a metal plate, wiring & screws that is also part of the reconstruction. My total time in the hospital was 3 months. While in the hospital I had extensive physical & occupational therapy. I also had outside therapy for about 6 months after being discharged from the hospital. I use a manual wheelchair to get around the house & also a electric wheelchair for when I want to venture out.Since my accident I have accomplished & have been blessed with so many things. Many different people have been in & out of my life. I like to inspire & motivate people from all walks of life, but especially quads.When I came home from the hospital it was a difficult transition for me. Laying on the couch was the normal thing for me. I did this for a few months. I abused alcohol for awhile to deal with the situation. Until one day it had to change. My brother Matthew and I decided to start recording music again. Before my accident we had a drum machine, cheap keyboard & two turntables which we recorded on a four track cassette player. I still dapple in music now recording & making beats on a mac. I found producing music to be very therapeutic. That began the road to recovery. I enrolled in some vocational rehabilitation classes for about a year & received a couple certificates of completion. Being employed didn't seem to pay off after insurance decided they weren't going to cover me anymore. In 2002 I attended a local college & earned a technical diploma in computer aided drafting. I also tutored as well on campus.Nowadays I consider myself retired on a fixed income.
