Exactly one week before my 32nd birthday, I had flown home from a work conference, got home from the airport, sat on my bed, turned around, and my neck went Crack. My vertabrae had collapsed onto my spinal cord. So I broke my neck from sitting on my bed. I do have a few bone conditions, but I didn't know this was going to happen. I couldn't move my legs, and my then partner took me to the local doctor, who put heat ray on my lower back. I went back every day, and I told her it was from my neck. She didn't believe me because I had no probs with arms as yet. 3 weeks later, the female doc was sick so I seen somebody new, and he sent me to my neurosurgeon, who immediately took xrays of my neck and sent me to hospital. I was operated on, and then had to wear a Halo drilled into my skull for 5 months. I woke from surgery with no use of my right arm or my legs, and slightly affected use of my left arm.
My partner and I split up within a year of my injury, and I was left to raise my two kids 15 and 7 on my own. I did not get assistance from any government body for 10 years. I finally have carers that come in and assist me, before that it was my kids. Now my kids are grown, aged 27 and 19 and it's time for me to meet people and make new friends. I don't do drama tho, and I tell it like it is.
